Year 5 and 6 - What have we been up to in the Spring term?

Investigating Adaptation: Year 5 had a 'cool' start to their non-chronological report writing! By testing the insulating effects of blubber, the children gained firsthand evidence of how animals stay warm in the Arctic. This hands-on experience is helping them bring their English reports to life with real scientific facts. We can't wait to share them with you once complete!

One slip and it's frozen! We stepped into the life of a penguin, learning how they protect their eggs in the harshest conditions on Earth. Balancing and passing was much harder than it looks - huge respect for the Emperors!

Survival of the fittest or survival of the....fastest?

Year 5 and 6 turned into a flock of Darwin's finches for the 'Battle of the Beaks!' Using different tools to represent beak shapes we raced to see who could gather the most 'food'. It was a fantastic way to see Natural Selection in action.
